Kakegurui is one of the few anime that deals with the topic of gambling. Students compete against each other in exciting matches. Two seasons and a spin-off have already been released. But when will Kakegurui Season 3 premiere?
Life is a game – at least for the students of Hyakkaou Private Academy. At this school, everything revolves around how well you can gamble. At night, the school transforms into a gambling den, and those who aren’t careful can lose everything. But Yumeko Jabami isn’t afraid: she loves to risk it all and is a true ace at gambling. We’ve already witnessed her skills in two seasons. Find out where Season 3 is in this article.
The Current State of Kakegurui
Kakegurui boasts a large fan base. Despite this, the anime has not yet been renewed for a third season. Neither Netflix nor the production studio MAPPA has announced a continuation. Consequently, the project is currently in limbo, and fans are patiently awaiting an announcement.
The first season of the series was released in Japan in the summer of 2017. A second season followed in early 2019, continuing the captivating gambling story. After that, there was a hiatus from the anime until August 2022, when the spin-off Kakegurui Twin was released, telling Mary Satome’s backstory and taking place one year before the main series.
What Are the Chances For Kakegurui Season 3?
Unfortunately, the facts regarding Kakegurui Season 3 are still quite scarce. While various rumors are circulating online, we haven’t been able to verify their accuracy. Therefore, we can only speculate. We estimate the chances of new Kakegurui episodes being released at approximately 60 percent.
Our estimate is based, among other things, on the series’ immense popularity and the fact that the manga by Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura is still successful and offers enough content for a third season. The series has been published in Japan since 2014 and currently comprises 21 volumes.
However, a continuation is unlikely because the anime adaptation hasn’t been updated in over four years. Even the gap between the second season and the spin-off Kakegurui Twin was only about three years. Furthermore, Studio MAPPA seems to be heavily involved in other projects at the moment, including important titles like Jujutsu Kaisen.

When Will Kakegurui Season 3 Premiere?
That’s quite hard to guess, as we currently have very little information about Kakegurui Season 3. However, if a continuation is announced, we should expect at least a six-month wait before the episodes premiere. Many anime series have a wait of a year or more between announcement and premiere.
If you simply can’t wait to find out what happens next, reading the manga makes sense. The source material is significantly further along in the story. However, it differs from the anime in some respects, which is why you shouldn’t just jump in after the season 2 finale.
We recommend reading the manga from the beginning. This way, you can be sure you don’t miss any important story elements that weren’t included in the anime. Conversely, there are also some moments or characters that never existed in the manga. Examples include the character Rei Batsubami and the final tarot game.
