B: The Beginning captivated Netflix viewers with its first two seasons. However, the show has been quiet for quite some time. Can we still expect B: The Beginning Season 3?
The Royal Investigation Service (RIS), a special unit of the Royal Police, is investigating a mysterious series of murders. A serial killer is committing gruesome murders in the province of Cremona, always leaving the letter “B” at the crime scene. The investigative team includes, among others, former police officer Keith Kazama Flick and the young detective Lily Hoshina.
The second season ended with a grand finale that clearly indicated the story should continue. However, no sequel has been released yet. Why is that, and what are the chances of B: The Beginning Season 3? We’ll explore this question in the following article.
The Current State of B: The Beginning
Unfortunately, not much information is currently available about B: The Beginning Season 3. The first two seasons were released on Netflix in 190 countries in 2018 and 2021 and captivated audiences worldwide. The season two finale hinted that a sequel was in the works.
But fans have been waiting a long time for the continuation. B: The Beginning Season 3 has not yet been announced, and the more time passes, the more the chances dwindle. Neither the studio Production I.G nor Netflix have officially renewed the series – but at the same time, it hasn’t been canceled either.
Is There Still Hope for B: The Beginning Season 3?
Admittedly, it’s highly unlikely that the Netflix anime will ever get a sequel. While we don’t know the exact reasons, the series’ long hiatus is a fairly clear indication that the streaming service has abandoned the project. Furthermore, Studio Production I.G has long since dedicated itself to new titles.
Incidentally, B: The Beginning is an original anime. This means that, unlike most anime, there’s no manga adaptation. So, without an animated sequel, fans will never know how the story of Keith, Lily, and the other investigators continues. That’s a shame, because the series tells an extremely captivating story.
